I LOVE FALL!! – Adam + Kara | Engagement

I think Fall may be the best time of year to take photos. The only downside is… So does everyone else. Which means the schedule can get a little crazy. Thankfully Adam, Kara and I took the time to squeeze in a morning session on Saturday, and I’m really glad we did. The colors in some of these shots are nuts.

For this final shot I couldn’t decide what I liked better in black and white or color. I’d love to hear your opinion.

Who said everything had to be in focus!

Just a random photo from a recent engagement session. As I was searching through the images pulling the “selects” I almost skipped right over this image… Because its out of focus right? But the more I looked at the more I was drawn to it. In the end I kept it because I like it and sometimes that a good enough reason for me.

Seth & Emily’s Omaha Engagement

Last week Seth and Emily made the long drive from “middle of nowhere” Nebraska to meet me in Downtown Omaha in the Old Market. We decided quickly that with the College World Series going on we would be better served finding a different location. So we ended up near the new stadium and shot in some places I have never been. It’s always fun to find new locations. Here are some of my favorites.

We shot Nick and Danielle’s engagement photos a few weeks ago down in Omaha’s Old Market and near the new pedestrian bridge. We had a little glimmer of sun here so we snagged it every chance we could get. Here are a few favorites from their session.

There is something about the next couple shots that I really like. I don’t know… maybe its just me…

Okay, so the shoot wasn’t done at altitude, nor did they even get engaged on a plane, but… they did meet on a plane, and so we did the first half of their engagement session at the airport. Surprisingly enough, not a single security guard or police officer asked us to stop shooting. I was sure that when I was standing on the top of the parking garage with a 70mm-200mm lens pointed at the airport that I would at least get some funny looks. So after our completely non-eventful shoot at the airport we spent some time around the Holland Performing Arts Center, then finished the shoot with some ice cream at eCreamery in Dundee.

Gloomy Day Engagement – Omaha Engagement Photography

If I’ve learned anything recently it’s that if you’re going to live in the mid-west and run a photography business you’d better be able to mix it up sometimes. I consider myself a “natural light” photographer – or at least that’s my preference – but when you’re shooting an engagement session in January you need to be able to do other things. It was nasty outside the day we shot Kristen & Jerad’s engagement session but I think we still ended up with some killer images, and we had a great time doing it.

We spent a ton of time outside so after a while we went inside and tried out a few different shots. These were just for fun but still pretty cool.

Here we go again. Just doing a little back blogging. I shot Matthew and Alex’s engagement photos a few months ago. They were an awesome couple to work with. They started the session, as most clients do, with the standard “we’re not very good at taking pictures.” Which as you can see was a blatant lie. But they have been forgiven and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding. Here are a few of my favorites.
