Just a random photo from a recent engagement session. As I was searching through the images pulling the “selects” I almost skipped right over this image… Because its out of focus right? But the more I looked at the more I was drawn to it. In the end I kept it because I like it and sometimes that a good enough reason for me.

A little something different

March 17th, 2010

Last week I was in Vegas at WPPI. The worlds largest wedding and portrait photographer convention and trade show. One of the nights I went out with a friend Victor Sizemore to a shoot he had planned in the desert. The shoot was styled by another friend from high school - Grey Likes Weddings. It’s not what I normally do… you know shooting models in a dry lake bed in the middle of the desert. But if you’ve read my blog in the past you know that I believe it is important to step out and stretch yourself as a photographer if you are going to continue to grow. Here are a few from the shoot.

experimentation

So I was driving home from a crazy long/amazing engagement session when I turned left on to the street leading to my house and saw the most amazing night sky. Whenever I see things like this I always say “man if only I had my camera”. Well this time I did have my camera. It may have been 10:30pm at night but I decided to try my hand at some night photography. Without a tripod I had to find the best rock to setup the shot, and then it was sit and wait for a decent lighting strike.

This was shot at 30sec shutter/f13/1000iso
